The LMS 10000 re-creation project has reached a major milestone. We have located, and secured the heart of our project to recreate LMS 10000. We have our hands on an English Electric 16SVT Diesel engine.
The 16SVT is the correct engine for LMS 10000, and the unit we have lined up is contemporary with the original locos, having been made in the late 1940s. Astonishingly, after all these years it is in a very good condition having been run only as a standby generator, and has very low engine hours. It makes the perfect heart for the recreated loco. It also has the correct Brown Boveri Turbochargers, and this will ensure that the recreation sounds just like the original.
Now we need cash to pay for the engine, and for its transport.
The 16SVT engine has a 247 Litre displacement so we are offering our followers the opportunity to sponsor 1 litre of engine for 10000 pence (£100).
Each of the 247 sponsorships will be rewarded by having your name engraved on a plaque attached in the engine room of the completed loco
. Donors will also recieve a complimentary membership of the society
for 1 year from the date of donation and will be granted preferential access to view the engine and the build of the loco
as it progresses (Subject to safe and secure access requirements)
We need as many people to take part in this campaign as possible. The biggest risk to this project, by far, is fundraising, so please give generously. Maybe a loved one would like to be associated with this project and would value a donation on their behalf for Christmas? Of course, you may sponsor multiple litres.
